About Gerber: A History of Innovation Savvy. Moxie. Craftsmanship. Attention to detail. These are just a few of the company traits that have contributed to Gerber's emergence as a world leader in outdoor gear. Joseph Gerber started Portland, Oregon's Gerber Advertising back in 1910, and one Christmas, he hired a local knife-maker to craft 25 sets of kitchen cutlery as client gifts. The knives were so popular Mr. Gerber ultimately left his agency to launch Gerber Legendary Blades in 1939. It makes sense, really. An idea man gets the idea of a lifetime and turns it into a major outdoor brand--one that commands respect among knife lovers and knife makers alike. And now that same high regard is spreading in new directions, in the form of many outstanding products such as tools, personal L.E.D. lighting, and more. What's in the Box Gerber 45912 Back Paxe and ballistic nylon sheath.

Very Nice Camping or Backpacking Axe February 5, 2010 Adam D. Taylor (Covington, KY) I bought this axe for my Brother as a gift after seeing a friend use it on our last backpacking trip to the Red River Gorge in Kentucky. It is made from really high quality steel and holds an edge well under mild abuse. My brother has not stopped ranting about how awesome it is since I bought it for him. I hope you all enjoy.
good packable axe January 6, 2010 Shane M. Maberry (Houston, Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this as gift for my dad. It's a small packable camping axe. In my opinion, it is a bit heavy to justify putting it in a backpack, but i'm sure a lot of slackpackers have done so. It's very sharp and seems to be well made. Dad was happy with the gift and can now chop wood on outdoor adventures.
great little axe December 23, 2009 Leon Noel (Hydesville, CA United States) I bought this axe to make kindling for the wood stove and it is perfect. Not too big or too small. Well made and easy to sharpen. It was just what I was looking for and a great buy.
Bad experience December 16, 2009 Alexander G. E. Smith 3 out of 22 found this review helpful
Supplier of Gerber axe sent an RCA indoor antenna by mistake. When contacted and asked where axe was, supplier responded by issuing a credit. This is a totally unacceptable response as a refund was not requested. Because I am a Canadian, I will be charged exchange fees by VISA for both the purchase and the refund meaning that I will be out of pocket and still do not have my axe. I am dissatisfied and have relayed this information to the supplier - no response as of today. I will certainly reconside rusing Amazon in the future.
Yes its a small axe. Thats its whole purpose. November 28, 2009 Everything You Wish You Were. 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Wow. You buy the smallest axe on the market and then complain about how small it is. I own this axe and it has many uses. I also own the 14inch model
