Product Description
Only Learn To Brew has soldered fittings that will not leak with use. This immersion chiller offered by Learn To Brew will allow for rapid cooling of hot wort to yeast pitching temperatures. This chiller is approximately 25 feet of 3/8" copper tubing with metal garden hose fittings both female and male that are completely soldered into place eliminating any leaks and the potential bursting that is often associated with vinyl tubing that is clamped on with other models of immersion coils. No one wants a burst hose spraying non sterilized water into your wort ruining your beer. You do not want the vinyl tubing near the boiling wort as the high temperatures will significantly weaken the tubing. This is the best model available on the market! Soldered fittings will never leak. Compression fittings found on other styles of immersion coils tend to expand and contract with the drastic temperature fluctuations during the boiling and cooling processes. This expansion and contraction will loosen the compression fittings and cause you to leak unsanitized cooling water into your hot wort. You just worked hard to make your wort, you don't want to contaminate because of a loose fitting. The soldered fittings are solid and secure and will loosen as the compression fittings do. The copper loops on this chiller are also easy to adjust to just about any width you desire between the loops. Simply pull them apart to spread them out!

3 out of 5 stars Wort Chiller   July 29, 2010

If you buy this from Learn to Brews website the shipping for some reason is way cheaper. As for the overall price it's gonna be about the same as any other 25 foot chiller being that you have to buy the tubing and fittings to make this functional. I would buy a complete one and save the trip to Home Depot. But it does work as advertised.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome!!!   June 27, 2010

Wow! This thing is amazing. We used it to cook down about 4.5 gallons of wort and it only took about 10 min. It only got it down to 80, maybe it's because that was the temp of the water running through the coils. I'm not sure but it was much more effective than the sink and an ice bath. I would definitely reccommend this. Just note it is for outside garden hose chilling which will require 2 hoses. We actually have the water going in through a hose and coming out of a PVC pipe spout on the end.

4 out of 5 stars Works really well   June 26, 2010

This worked very well on my latest batch of beer. The garden hose attachments make this tricky to use in the kitchen. I had to get a bunch of adapters to make it work.

4 out of 5 stars Best bang for the buck   June 9, 2010

I searched all over and this one was the cheapest. It has soldered fittings which is great. I only gave it four stars because it is a little short for my brew kettle. But that was easily fixed by manipulating the intake and output lines a little.

5 out of 5 stars Great Wort Chiller   May 25, 2010

This item came ready to use, all you have to do is clean it off before the first use. I boil in an old keg with the top cut off so I had to adjust the spacing on some of the coils but it was a breeze. Very easy to do, no tools needed either. What's even better is that it cooled 5 gallons of boiling wort down to 70 degrees in 10-11 minutes. The hose fittings didn't leak a drop either. I'm kicking myself for not buying one sooner!
