5 out of 5 stars Mastering The Art of French Cooking   July 27, 2010

Undoubtedly one of my best cookbooks. I've learned so much from it. It is a must have for anyone who is serious about being a good cook.

I purchased this cookbook set along with the Julie & Julia movie for my daughter. These items made a great gift. I received a big bang for my buck. What a fabulous response I got from her as well as her husband (they are young and still kinda newlyweds). I believe I will have to get one for myself.

4 out of 5 stars Julia Child   July 3, 2010

Julia has her own way of doing things and I personally like her teaching methods. Some say it is the same as others but with more butter. I disagree. Her book gives insight into the technique of cooking and leaves the reader with many options. I like Julia's style. I use the book as a reference for important aspects of cooking. I give it 4 stars which means it is a very good book but it is not complete within itself. There are many other good books with great recipes. I personally like to surf the Internet for recipes and spend a little time reviewing Julia's book. Some people will do just fine without this book.

5 out of 5 stars Very Fun!   July 2, 2010

This two volumes of French Cooking are very fun! I have only had them for a few weeks now and have only made recipes from the first one but am very happy with the results as well as the options. There are several variations of each master recipe so you can cook however you feel at the time. The binding is very good quality and the books are put together very well. I do recommend these two volumes of Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child to anyone who enjoys cooking and wants to get more involved in the art no matter what level.

The food may be a bit on the fattening side, but thats what makes these dishes special...for special days/partys/holidays. I never tasted such great cooking at my own hands before! THANK YOU JUILA CHILD!
